The "Right" Wrong Number It began in the fall of 2023. While Joseph likes to say he confidently "slid into the DMs," it actually took some detective work. Lanika accidentally gave Joe a phone number with an extra digit, but Joe was determined. He spent the evening solving the puzzle until he finally heard her voice on the other end. Their first FaceTime lasted over four hours, leaving them both wondering: …“Did I just meet my soulmate?” Tacos, Roses, and "The One" Joe showed up for their first date with a dozen long-stem red roses and a plan for tacos (one of Lanika’s favorite foods). The two spent the day sharing tacos, stories, and completely losing track of time. Being together felt easy, natural, and full of joy—like they had known each other forever. The connection was instant, and they started dating right away. Joe knew immediately; he even told his mother he’d found his future wife and that “she's the one." All the while, Lanika felt the same excitement. A Ring, Two Proposals and a Lifetime of "I Do" Their whirlwind romance led to a heartfelt proposal with a gorgeous ring just a few months later. Lanika joyfully said yes, and Joe promised that one proposal wasn't enough for a love like theirs. He later swept her off her feet with a second proposal outside the Buckingham Fountain in Chicago, giving their story a perfect encore. The Celebration of Us Knowing they didn’t want to wait to start their life together, Lanika and Joseph wed in an intimate ceremony in 2024. They’ve spent the last couple together years as best friends—building a home, traveling the world, and blending their lives with Joe’s amazing daughter to create a family built on love and adventure. This wedding isn't a beginning—it honors the beautiful, lasting life they’ve created over the last 3 years. As they celebrate their anniversary in October 2026, they are just as enamored today as they were during that first four-hour call.
