Another one of Sarah’s favorites! Rent some bikes and have some fun. The trail used to be the old railroad trail, so the tunnels and trestles are huge! Starting at the top its an easy coast downhill, but you will stop a lot for photos! THE "CROWN JEWEL" OF RAIL-TO-TRAIL ADVENTURES The Route of the Hiawatha mountain bike or hike trail is 15 miles long with 10 train tunnels and 7 sky-high trestles. The ride starts with a trip through the 1.661 mile long St. Paul Pass Tunnel, also known as the Taft Tunnel. It is a highlight of the trail that follows the crest of the Bitterroot Mountains near Lookout Pass Ski Area. The best part is.... it's mostly downhill with shuttle buses available to transport you and your bike back to the top. This family friendly trail is easily enjoyed by a wide variety of people from young children to super seniors.
This is one of Sarah’s favorite things to do! The Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes is one of the most spectacular trails in the western United States. It was named one of the 25 top trails in the nation in 2010 by the Rails to Trails Conservancy. The trail runs for 73 miles on smooth asphalt that is perfect for bicycles, in-line skaters, walkers and wheelchairs, winter Nordic skiing and snowshoeing, birding, and wildlife viewing. There are many places to access the trail, but Sarah’s favorite spot is to start in Harrison, ID. They have an amazing ice cream shop (with huge scoops so be prepared!) and lots of wildlife. Moose, pelicans, swans, and more are regularly spotted on the trail.
