Eli started the engagement weekend by surprising me with a printed itinerary on Friday evening and on it was written that “6/22/19 was the longest day of the year so I am taking you on the longest date of the year.” Bright and early Saturday morning we made our way to Datz in St. Petersburg for a wonderful brunch. Next we continued our drive to Siesta Key for a beach day and dinner at sunset. The next morning we headed to the beaches of Palm Coast, where we both got a tad too much sun. At around 4:30pm we packed up our belongings, changed and headed over to Washington Oaks State Park for a stroll. Once there, we walked all through the trails and rose gardens to a beautiful gazebo that floated over a stream where Eli got down on one knee and proposed with my dream engagement ring that sat within a large conch shell we had found on a previous beach trip years ago. Now I’m sure he had said some beautiful words but honestly I can barely remember much, it was a whirlwind of emotions. I do know I cried, said yes, and embraced him with what was probably the worlds longest hug!
