Due to current circumstances, we are having to postpone our wedding celebration. The plan right now is for us to get married with only our immediate family and then celebrate at a later date when we all can get together. Details of our new date will be shared later. Thank you for all your love and support during this time! Love, Lani & Scott
One of my best friends, Taylor, randomly texted me saying, "I have someone for you." (It was a running joke and quest amongst all my friends that they were going to find me "the one" - to which I often just nodded my head and shrugged it off). You can then imagine my skepticism when I received her text. She sent me an old picture of him from a few years prior and warned me not to look at his mullet- and bad-facial-hair-filled Facebook for fear of me saying no immediately. I disregarded her warning and looked anyway but she was right-I probably should have avoided it. Still, I figured there was no harm in meeting him all the while hoping that he was now sporting a better haircut. Fast forward a month at a young adults' outing for church-burgers and bowling-where Scott and I met for the first time. I went into the evening knowing Taylor's plan to set us up but Scott was none the wiser. It was a casual evening with friendly competition of boys vs. girls. I was immediately attracted to his sense of humor and laughter. But, at the end of the night, nothing happened. Fast forward another couple of months and Taylor had both Scott and me on the VBS skit team which meant we were together for hours every night for a week. Again, I was attracted to his sense of humor but was also getting a chance to see his selfless heart for service. Our time together at VBS began a couple months of flirtatious back and forth which finally ended in me asking him out. And since then, he hasn't failed to make me laugh, care for and support me, and love me for who I am. I cannot wait to continue our lives together as husband and wife.
My friend, Taylor, asked me if I wanted to go bowling with the young adults from church. I had nothing else going on, so of course I went. There was a new girl there, a friend of Ryan and Taylor's. She was pretty and funny. I remember thinking, "this girl has a sense of humor - I like that." Well I was a bit slow on the up take. We didn't see each other again for a couple months, until VBS. Taylor liked to make her help at VBS every year, and she roped me in that year. Well I was still slow on the up take, until I told our youth pastor to make her help with the youth kids so we could hang out. We had a group outing to watch her friend's band perform in Long Beach. We enjoyed the show, as we left she talked with some homeless men. I remember thinking "That is awesome. I want a girl like that." Minutes later, she asked me out. And we haven't looked back yet. She makes me laugh, a lot. I love her heart for other people; I saw that the first day. She challenges me to be a better person (cliche I know). I can't wait for April 18th.
