This spot has a beautiful walking trail along the Cape Fear River. You'll also get a great view of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and USS North Carolina. We take our annual family picture overlooking the battleship.
Empie Park
If you brought your dog along (or just need to enjoy the weather), this spot has a terrific dog park, some walking trails, and playground. This was also where we had our first date!
University of North Carolina Wilmington
This college is what brought Jennifer to Wilmington for the 1st time in 2008. Steven spent many hours playing basketball here around the same time. How did we not meet then?
Airlie Gardens
A must-visit for the nature lovers! Adrianne (Steven’s sister) likes to get the family together here every year for Christmas, but the Spring time is the best time to walk the gardens - hands down!
New Hanover County Arboretum
Another scenic nature walk! Every Spring, The Arboretum hosts the Master Gardener Plant Sale which is a must-see for our botanists.
Smith Creek Park
A little out of the way but definitely worth a short drive! This park offers picnic areas, a paved walking path, a playground, all surrounding a beautiful spring-fed lake.
Fort Fisher State Historic Site
The only local beach that doesn't charge for parking! We like to sit on the rocks and enjoy the view. (Don't tell anyone we told you.. ) And, if you're lucky, you might see a dolphin off shore!
Cardinal Lanes Beach Bowl
Steven is a fantastic bowler and even joined the local bowling league a few years back. Maybe you can beat his high score? He's bowled a 300 - a perfect score!
