Flying into Hilo Airport

• Hilo International Airport (ITO) is located on the East side of the island. • Hilo airport is 13 miles (26 minute drive) from our home. • Depending on the airline, flying to Hilo would require an additional layover in Honolulu, Oahu. ( If you’re not a fan of long flights, you can avoid this by flying into Kona. )

• Kona International Airport (KOA) is located on the West side of the island. • Kona airport is 87 miles (1 hour & 54 min) from our home. • Flying into Kona is typically cheaper, depending on airline • Flying into Kona typically avoids an additional lay over, on a different island.
