Laney and Braden were introduced through mutual friends, crossing paths for the first time while each was in a different season of life.

Laney and Braden shared a brief first chapter together, spending a couple of weeks dating before deciding the timing wasn’t quite right.

Laney realized she still had feelings for Braden, and they decided to give things another try. After a few weeks, they realized the timing still wasn’t right and ghosted each other.

Laney and Braden’s story paused for a while as life continued separately.

Laney reached out to reconnect, just as she was preparing to move to Omaha. They went on a date the next day, beginning a new chapter together. While Laney was in Omaha, they made long-distance work, seeing each other on weekends when she returned to coach volleyball. On January 25, 2025, Braden asked Laney to be his girlfriend.

Braden moved into Laney’s home in Bertrand, where they began living together and started talking about their future, including getting engaged.

Braden proposed to Laney in the comfort of their home in Bertrand with flowers, lights, and candles. Braden also organized an engagement party for the next day with their families.
