Cognac train station is the closest station to the wedding venue. Alternatively, there is a two hour train from Paris to Angouleme. From there it is a 50 minute journey to Cognac.

There are many ferry routes from the UK to Northern France, if you take the overnight Portsmouth to Caen route, the drive to is approx. 5 hours or from St Malo approx 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can go via Dover to Calais/Folkstone to Calais

Île de Ré is an island off the west coast of France. It’s known for its salt marshes and beaches like the Plage de la Conche des Baleines, backed by dunes and pine trees. Nearby, the Phare des Baleines is a lighthouse offering expansive views. The main town of St-Martin-de-Ré has the 17th-century Fortifications of Vauban, plus outdoor cafes overlooking the marina. Bicycle paths crisscross the island.

La Rochelle is a coastal city in southwestern France and capital of the Charente-Maritime department. It's been a center for fishing and trade since the 12th century, a maritime tradition that's reflected in its Vieux Port (old harbor) and huge, modern Les Minimes marina. The old town has half-timbered medieval houses and Renaissance architecture, including passageways covered by 17th-century arches.
