Question

What is the easiest way to get around the island?

Answer

The easiest and safest way to get around the island is by taxi, the Hitch app (which is Bermuda's version of Uber & Lyft), or using Bermuda's bus network. Another scenic and relaxing way to get around the island is Bermuda's ferry system. The main hub of ferry service is the Hamilton Ferry Terminal located in the city of Hamilton and accessible from Front St.

Question

Can I rent a car in Bermuda?

Answer

Because there are no rental cars on the island, many people enjoy exploring Bermuda on scooters or Twizys! NOTE: We do caution guests who plan to rent scooters/Twizys to please exercise extreme caution when navigating Bermuda's dangerously narrow roads (driving on island is on the left-hand side of the road.) We want all our guests to be safe and sound on the island! Current Vehicles is the go-to place to rent Twizy/Renault two-seater electric cars. They have locations at The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club and at The Fairmont Southampton Resort. Please call their local phone number (441) 296-8949 or refer to their website to book in advance and have fun exploring this beautiful island. Please inquire with your hotel concierge for additional rental options.

Question

What is the local currency in Bermuda?

Answer

Everywhere in Bermuda accepts U.S. dollars as a form of payment. Please keep in mind Bermuda does not accept Discover card. However, most places do accept Visa, Mastercard, and Amex.

Question

Will my cellphone work in Bermuda?

Answer

Please keep in mind that if you do not have an international dialing and roaming plan, your phone will not work in Bermuda to make normal calls. If you would like to set this up on your phone before getting to Bermuda, we recommend doing that prior to your arrival. Keep in mind that the roaming rates can be quite high, so check out the rates before you start. In the case you do not want to set up international dialing and roaming, you will still be able to communicate once your device is connected to WiFi if you use the following apps: iMessage (if you have an iPhone you can text once connected to WiFi) WhatsApp Facebook Messenger Instagram Etc.
