Welcome to our story!

Our story begins on Labor Day of 2019. Chris’s youth pastor, Aaron, had married Rachel’s sister a little over a year prior and Rachel was visiting from out of town. Aaron, knowing both Rachel and Chris, took a picture of Rachel and sent it to Chris with the message “This is going to be your future wife.” Chris was speculative, but his friends encouraged him to go for it. He asked for her Snapchat, and Rachel gave it, reluctantly. Neither were looking for a relationship. June 24th, 2022: They took a trip to where the two shared their first date and spent the day recreating it under the ruse of taking pictures. They were on the last leg of the recreation, when Christopher insisted the two take a different path leading to Carter’s Mountain Outlook. He kept looking at the map to make sure they would not miss it. He set up the tripod to “take a picture” of the two of them looking off of the outlook. He set it to video instead. He walked next to Rachel and put his arms around her shoulders as she began to pose, thinking this was just another picture. After a moment, he took a shaky breath and handed her a letter. He told her to read it aloud as she faced the other way. It was titled “The Story of Us,” a callback to a gift Rachel gave Chris every year, illustrating the major events of their relationship throughout the year. As Rachel reached the end of the letter, it instructed her to turn around and there Chris was on one knee. “…and I looked at you with this ring in my hand and I said I can’t imagine a day where I could ever live without you in my life.
