The story begins on January 28 2014, the day we first met. At Burleigh High School, Loughborough, England. Lane was traveling through the United Kingdom with Grossmont High School Choir from San Diego, California. During which time they stopped off at Kasey’s high school- what are the chances? Lane’s school choir was invited to perform, as in 2013 the two principals had met on a cruise. Following this, the inevitable happened. Two teenagers from opposite sides of the world met. The morning of the 28th, Lane was having a tour of the school and happened to stumble upon the basketball team practicing. It was here where our eyes matched. After a few pictures and information was exchanged, we kept in contact for the next few years as very close friends. Speaking, texting and video calling nearly every day. Nothing could keep us apart; not even the 8 hour time difference or the 5485 mile distance. During Lane’s junior and senior years in College, things started to move forward from the friendship and develop into something even more special. Something we both wanted for years but didn’t know how to achieve it. After numerous sleepless nights on FaceTime, countless times falling asleep on camera, endless hours on video calls, making the long distance work for so long, and traveling Trans-Atlantic multiple times, the relationship got stronger and closer with each passing day. With the help of Kasey’s closest friends, Iris Da Silva Almeida, Aadam Aziz and Olly Howells, he had everything in place ready to surprise Lane. Kasey decided it was the right time to propose to his queen on October 5th 2018 in Richmond, Virginia.
