Karli and Lane’s story began on Hinge when Karli agreed to let Lane pick her up for a date to El Prez in Pacific Beach, one of the few places open during the pandemic. Their interests in each other quickly grew as they bonded over their mutual love for country music. Lane suggested a romantic walk on the beach after drinks and as the evening unfolded, he mustered the courage to ask Karli if he could kiss her—an ask that was warmly welcomed. Their chemistry was undeniable, and by the next night, they found themselves together again while out with friends. What started as a casual hangout evolved into something more significant when, on the third day, Lane invited Karli to what she thought was a casual BBQ. To her surprise, it turned out to be a gathering with his entire family, including nieces, nephews, and his mom. From that moment on, their bond deepened as they spent nearly every day together, finding joy and love in each other’s company.

Karli thought they were heading to Ensenada for Lane’s birthday with their usual San Diego crew (plus Kris). After a fun-filled afternoon of tequila tasting in downtown Ensenada, Lane suggested a walk down the boardwalk at Las Rosas Hotel to “show her the view” and “look at some funny-looking birds” he’d "heard" about. As they strolled hand-in-hand, Lane suddenly dropped to one knee and asked, “Remember when I told you I want to spend the rest of my life with you? Will you marry me?” With his brother and sister-in-law capturing the moment from the bushes, the proposal was both a delightful surprise and a cherished memory. The surprises continued as they returned to the hotel lobby, where Karli was thrilled to find her parents, sister, best friends from across the country, and Lane’s mom and sister waiting to celebrate. The weekend was filled with joy and toasts at the Ensenada wineries, marking a beautiful start to their future together.
