Bryan and Landry have known each other for a very long time. Their families met when Bryan was 5 and Landry was 2! The two families became close friends and did almost everything together: church, dinner, lunch, breakfast, zoo trips, ski trips, dirt bikes, etc. The list goes on and on. Little did the two families know, they would one day become more than close friends. Landry grew up being the only girl. She had her brother, Reid along with the three Bush boys. She grew up with these crazy boys getting treated like just one of the guys! She was outnumbered...but didn't mind because they were just like brothers and made life fun! The middle one, Bryan, had a special place in Landry's heart. Even as a young child, she had a crush on him and thought he was the coolest kid ever! Fast forward some years, the kids are all older and involved in baseball, football, swimming, track, FFA, etc. The families got busy and time together was rare. July 4th of 2014 the Bush and Allen clans were able to reunite for an evening of sparkler bombs, scary masks, and of course - Fireworks..... and not just in the sky. Bryan took note that Landry was no longer that little girl he remembered, but a grown-up beautiful young lady and a spark of new interest flew! That spark stayed simmering for a few months as the families went about life unaware that these two would wind up getting hitched some years later!
Bryan had just moved home from playing baseball in college and Landry's Junior Prom was approaching and she was dateless! With the encouragement of Shelly (Bryan's mom) - Landry got the courage up to ask Bryan if he would take her so she wouldn't have to go alone (as friends). Expecting him to say no to a "high school" event - she was shocked when he said yes! However, Landry decided prom just wasn't her thing and knew Bryan wouldn't have as much fun so she surprised him and bought Supercross tickets instead! They started the countdown and meanwhile went on an official "date" to discuss the plans and catch up on each other's lives without the whole family around. When Supercross time arrived - they had a blast reliving some childhood memories and were so glad they "ditched prom"! The next day, Bryan texted Landry telling her he forgot his phone charger in the car and wanted to drop by and get it. However, he had a different plan in mind when he arrived - he asked Landry if she would be his girlfriend - of course - SHE SAID YES!
Every summer since Landry was about 4 years old, her family has spent a week in Destin, FL. Bryan began going along after he and Landry began dating. He grew to love Destin just as much doing all of the traditional things like crabbing, eating great food, hunting for sand dollars (he's a pro), being beach bums, and fishing (his favorite). Bryan knew this was a super special place for Landry and held many memories - from losing her first tooth to catching a barracuda! The trip for 2018 rolled around and the family was trying something new - glamping on the beach! They had a fantastic week full of adventures like catching sharks, helicopter rides, and pontooning. Bryan's family arrived later in the week - Landry thought it was a little odd but was excited they showed up! August 3rd - the family gussied up for pics on the beach (an annual event) in their matching black shirts and jeans! (real original right?) Shelly offered to snap the pics as she and Brandon moved them around for various shots. Brandon (older brother) told Landry to face the ocean so he could get some cool silhouette shots - meanwhile Bryan moved into position and as Landry stood there - she heard "you can turn around now" After saying some words that Landry will keep in her heart forever, Bryan bent down on one knee and popped the question Landry had waited four years to hear - "Will you marry me?" It was a magical celebration and the familes hugged and enjoyed steak at McGuires that evening - trying to soak in all the day held. There have been many plans made since that unforgettable moment on the beach and a lot of work to get to this long awaited day that will connect our families and our hearts forever! We know it will be a blast and hope that you can join us for our celebration, but if not -please join us in prayer for our journey ahead!
