The Reynolda House is a gorgeous historical home with an art exhibit, botanical gardens, and a surrounding village with shops and restaurants. It's a fun place to spend the afternoon (and Reynolda Village is the site of our ceremony!).
We are surrounded by a ton of vineyards around the Winston Salem area, and Medaloni Cellars is a great example. This vineyard is a little closer to the Bermuda Run area (where the reception will be), but other favorite vineyards include Raylen, JOLO, and Misty Creek.
Old Salem is incredible. It's a historic, Moravian town that is preserved in time. With old houses, shops, and restaurants to tour, you can't go wrong with spending the day here!
We have some beautiful sites, and some great hiking trails in the area. Stone Mountain is fun if you're looking for some exercise. If you're willing to drive a little longer, check out the Blue Ridge Parkway - you won't regret it.
If you've got children, this is a fun place to spend the day. It's a science museum (formerly called SciWorks) entirely geared towards children. If you grew up in the area, you couldn't escape elementary school without heading here at least once.
Winston Salem has a lot of great pubs and bars. Burke Street Pub is a laid back place to grab a drink during the day, and a little more wild at night. Other bars in the area that we would recommend include West End Opera House, Hoots Brewery, Tate's, and the Winston Salem Social Club. And, if you're up for a drive, head to White Elephant Beer Company in Mount Airy, NC. We hear the owner's a really great guy.
