On September 28, 2018, Landon was warming up on the ice with the University of Central Oklahoma hockey team for their game against Missouri State University. As Amber sat in the front row with her dog and singing to the pre-game music, Landon shot a puck at the glass where Amber was sitting. Jarred but flattered, Amber noticed Landon right away and Landon did the same. Amber noticed Landon’s eyes and was immediately intrigued. When the game began, Amber’s friend leaned over and asked if she knew any of the players, Amber responded, “No, but I want to know #89.” And that she did, #89 would soon become her best friend in the summer of 2019, her boyfriend on October 1, 2019, her fiancé on June 20, 2020, and her husband on June 26, 2021.

On June 20, 2020, Landon had special plans after going to dinner at her favourite restaurant, ice cream at her favourite parlor and a special song, "Big, Big Plans" by Chris Lane, they arrived on the doorstep. Landon kissed her and opened the door. Amber was greeted by a rose petal trail, candles, balloons, and champagne. Landon then got down on one knee and Amber said the easiest "yes" of her life!
