Landis and Matt met for their first date on a Monday evening at King & Duke, a restaurant in Atlanta. They had planned on just grabbing drinks after work, but ended up talking the night away and closed the restaurant down -- after Landis convinced Matt to try their Sticky Toffee Pudding dessert of course! Right away Matt knew that he had found a keeper and wanted to see her again as soon as possible. Coincidently, the very next day, Landis mentioned there was a concert at Lakewood Amphitheater that she wanted to go to. After googling "Who is G-Eazy?" and listening to one song Matt was suddenly a big fan and bought tickets for them immediately. They had an amazing time at the concert, shared their first kiss, and the rest is history.
Matt always had grand ideas on how he would propose to Landis (like on the Jumbotron at a Braves game... he's only slightly kidding), but the events of 2020 made planning his proposal a little more difficult. The night of their engagement ended up being more perfect than they ever could've imagined. After being EXTRA sweet all week leaving love notes and treats for Landis, Matt planned a special Friday night dinner at home. They shared some of their favorite things (wine and charcuterie) and cooked a delicious meal together. Matt even had the dessert from their first date delivered to their doorstep! As soon as Landis saw it, she immediately got teary-eyed and knew that this Friday night would be extra special. After dinner, Matt put on a record and played one of their favorite songs. They danced to Jason Isbel in the living room and then it happened! Matt got down on one knee and proposed to Landis with the ring of her dreams. She said yes! After hugging, crying, and kissing, Matt next proposed to Winnie with a beautiful rhinestone collar, which made Landis cry even more. Winnie said yes too, of course! Matt had one more surprise in store: a weekend getaway to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville to celebrate. They left the very next morning and have been celebrating ever since.
