It was sophomore year at Western where I came 2 weeks early to go through Resident Advisor training before the school year started. I hadn't met anyone yet from my staff, but after we all spent all morning moving into our new rooms, after we were done we were supposed to meet in the lobby and head to the annual RA barbecue to meet all the rest of the teams and RA Directors. When I got to the lobby I noticed Alex right away and my first though was "thank god there's a cute guy on my team." Then my second thought was "wait you shouldn't date anyone from your staff…." but I couldn't resist. The entire 15 minute walk to the barbecue that was across campus, I kept wondering how I should introduce myself to Alex. When we got to the event I got in line to get food and then awkwardly looked around where to sit. I noticed Alex was sitting all alone and I thought this was my chance. From the moment I introduced myself I instantly knew this was the guy of my dreams - never did I expect to feel so comfortable talking to someone, as if I've known Alex my whole life. From then on, those 2 weeks of RA training were the best. We sat next to each other the entire time during trainings, instantly had inside jokes, spent time after trainings either getting hot chocolate at Woods Coffee at Boulevard park, or working on our welcoming boards to decorate on our floors for our residents who were soon coming. After the 2 weeks were over, Alex asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend and from then on I knew I have found my person. - Glo
Before our trip across the US last year, Glo mentioned countless times how badly she wanted to make it out to the Grand Canyon for the first time so I knew we'd absolutely have to make a stop along the way. On March 13th, we took a detour over to Arizona and made it out to the Grand Canyon! I was determined to make this engagement happen on a beautiful day hike into the canyon with breathtaking views of the canyon… but we arrived at the Canyon with completely overcast weather - we're talking zero visibility snow-filled weather. I promised Glo it would clear up and together we braced the cold hike into the canyon. Only on our way back up to the top at an overlook point did I manage to stall for 20 minutes as the sky completely cleared. Glo's hands were cold and a bit swollen but spirits were high as I asked her to marry me - the wedding website serves as proof that she said yes! - Alex
