How Our Story Began

March 21st, 2022

After matching online a week or two earlier, we finally agreed it was time to meet up. It was a rare, warm March evening - 70 degrees and perfect for a first date! Chris suggested Legends Brewery thinking it was halfway between himself and Colonial Heights (little did he know). I, as always, showed up 10 minutes late. Talking over great beer and a few apps, the conversation continued until we eventually closed the place down. A second date followed shortly after where we ventured to Maya and Hotel Greene for mini golf and Mexican food (two of our favorite things), and we haven't really left each other's side since. We've been to concerts, beach trips, weddings, the river, garden centers and everything in between in our 3 years together and we've met so many amazing people along the way. We're so fortunate for our journey and can't wait for all of the future memories, trips and more to come!

The Proposal

June 1st, 2024

Typically on our morning walks at the Deltaville river house, Chris would brighten the mood by picking me beautiful bouquets of wildflowers. The morning of our engagement, nothing seemed out of the ordinary when we headed out on another one of our flower picking strolls. Our walk that morning started out like any other, except for both of us starting to show signs of poison ivy from the prior week's yard work. We picked flowers of all sorts and I enjoyed the sunshine of a warm June morning with no idea Chris had a ring wrapped up in a napkin in his pocket. Once getting closer to home, we found a few Daylilies or "ditch lilies" we decided to add to finish off our collection. We returned to the house after the 45 minute walk and proceeded to find vases for our beautiful arrangements. It was when I reached for the flowers, empty vase in hand, that the ring had appeared on top of the daylilies. Shock, confusion, tears, celebration - you name it. It was a great morning with all the feelings. It was such a special moment in a special place with just the two of us. Then followed by two weeks of almost hospitalization with Poison ivy and ringworm to remember forever.
