Maid of Honor
I met Alana at Lakeland Montessori in 2004, where her mom was our principal. She was in kindergarten, I was in first grade, and we've been inseparable ever since. Growing up together in Lakeland, Florida, we built a friendship that has truly stood the test of time. Even after I moved to Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina—and later to Boone for college—she visited me every single year without fail. Now, as adults settling into new chapters of our lives, we've managed to maintain that same closeness, even across the miles. We’ve always shown up for each other during life’s biggest moments, and no matter what changes, I know she’ll always be there—just like she always has been. She’s the closest thing I’ve ever had to a sister. Whether we're hiking, rock climbing, camping, or just getting lost in the woods, we’ve always shared a love for adventure and the outdoors. Having her by my side on this day means the world to me.

Ashlyn is Lance’s younger sister, and getting to know her has been one of the sweetest parts of joining the Annis family. From the very beginning of my relationship with Lance, she welcomed me with open arms, and we really bonded during a memorable Annis family trip to Kentucky. We’re both proud cat moms and share a love for psychology, which gave us plenty to connect over—but one of our favorite pastimes might just be laughing at Lance together. Whether we’re teasing him or just exchanging a look when he says something classic-Lance, our shared sense of humor has made us fast friends. I’ve never had a sister before, and I feel incredibly lucky to be gaining one through this marriage. Ashlyn is smart, kind, and always up for a good laugh—and I’m so grateful to have her by my side now and always.

Madison and I met in 2016 during our AP Lit class senior year of high school. We went on a lunch date to see if we’d make good roommates at Appalachian State—and we must’ve made the right call, because we ended up living together all four years of college and spending just about every day together from that point on. Madison is my sounding board, my steady voice of reason, and one of the wisest people I know. She’s the first person I turn to when I need advice, and she’s been by my side through every twist and turn of early adulthood. From late-night study sessions to big life decisions, she’s been there through it all. We even got to explore the world together—traveling all the way to Australia! We've grown up side-by-side, and I couldn't be more grateful to have her standing next to me on such a meaningful day.

Anna and I met thanks to Lance, not long after we first started dating. We really got to know each other during weekends spent at an off-grid cabin in Boone—nights full of campfires, laughter, and deep conversations that stretched until morning. Those memories are some of my favorites. Anna is the life of every party and a shining light to everyone she meets. Her energy is contagious, and her heart is huge. She's always up for anything and brings joy and warmth wherever she goes. She’s become such a dear friend not only to me, but to Lance as well. I’m so honored to have her by my side—and equally honored to stand by hers at her own wedding in 2025. Having Anna in our lives has been a true gift.

Madeline and I first crossed paths in high school art class after I moved to North Carolina, but we didn’t become friends until college at Appalachian State—her dorm was just two floors down from Madison and me. We quickly grew close and ended up living together, navigating college life side by side. When COVID hit, we found ourselves back in our hometown, working together at her dad’s produce distribution warehouse. Later, we moved to Asheville and spent our days surrounded by nature, painting almost every day in our sunroom with her twin sister, Morgan. One of the things that really bonds us is our shared passion for live music—we hear music in the same way, often getting lost in the melodies and rhythms that move us. Madeline inspires me to stay creative and to appreciate the small, beautiful moments in life. I’m so lucky to call her a friend and to have her by my side on this day.

Morgan is Madeline’s twin sister, and while we first met in high school art class, it wasn’t until junior year English—when our teacher let us take breaks for Krispy Kreme—that we started to connect. Our friendship truly blossomed when we all moved to Asheville together during COVID. Spending that time together, creating art, and finding new ways to stay inspired during lockdown really brought us closer. Morgan and I bonded over our love for music and art, and we became regular rock climbing partners, often making the drive to Boone to climb outside on our days off. She’s always up for an adventure, and her confidence and positive energy are contagious. I’m so grateful for the friendship we’ve built, and even though we don’t live as close as we used to, I’ve been privileged to watch her grow in her career. I’m beyond happy she’s traveling to spend this special day with me, and I can’t wait to celebrate with her by my side.

I met Brett at the same time I met Lance, while we were all working as fine dining servers in Blowing Rock, NC in 2022. From the moment I met her, I was struck by her kindness, her unique perspective on the world, and the way she is fully present with everyone around her. It’s something truly rare and special. Brett and I share a birthday, and we’ve been lucky enough to celebrate it together three years in a row—always trying to visit the same magical field of goldenrod along the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's one of my favorite traditions with one of my favorite people. She’s been a wonderful friend not only to me, but also to Lance. Her calm energy, thoughtful heart, and unwavering friendship have meant so much to both of us. I’m so grateful to have her standing with me on this day.

Robby and Dawn Walker were married in 1997, but their story began long before that. They met in high school, but it wasn’t until my dad joined the military that they started dating. Their love and partnership have been the foundation of our family, and I’ve been fortunate to grow up surrounded by their unwavering bond. Together, they raised my brothers and I in Lakeland, Florida, always making sure we felt loved and supported. Weekends were often spent on our fishing boat, where my parents taught us how to fish, explore the islands, and appreciate the beauty of nature. These moments are the roots of many of my fondest memories. Their marriage has been a shining example of what it means to love unconditionally and work together through the ups and downs. Their commitment to each other has not only shaped the beautiful family we are today but has also been the guiding force behind the values we hold dear. I am endlessly grateful for their example of love, strength, and partnership, and I can only hope to carry those lessons into my own marriage.
