“How did you guys meet?” is one of our favorite questions. It makes us think back to August 26, 2011 – our first day of school at Muhlenberg College! We met for the first time in our dorm, Prosser Hall, where we lived on the same floor. While it’s living conditions were questionable at best, it will forever have a special place in our hearts and it will always be known to us as the place where our love story began. Over the next few years, we spent time together growing as close friends (and for Lance, literally growing). Through soccer games, sorority formals, nights out, and many days spent together laying out on the lawn, we always felt a special connection and knew that there was something there more than a friendship. Flash forward to 2015, when Lance moved to DC and Ally moved to NYC. Although the distance made our “friendship” challenging, we could not stop thinking of one another! As much as we love reminiscing about how we met, our love story wouldn’t be complete without the “what was your first date?” debate. Was it the time in college when Lance thought he and Ally were getting ice cream alone, but she brought all of her friends along too? Was it Ally’s sorority formal that she brought Lance to? Was it the time they met for drinks in NYC just before Lance headed off to DC? Who knows. But, we can say that our favorite of all was the first time we met up in New York just after Lance moved there for Ally in 2017. It was as if no time had gone by and we knew in our hearts that this was it – our last first date (with each other or anyone else)! We were finally exactly where we were meant to be. It was a win-win situation; we were finally dating, and our family and friends no longer had to hear us complain about not being with one another. You’re welcome, everyone! We could talk about how we met and our first date forever, but the best question of all is one that Lance asked Ally on 8/21/21: “will you marry me?”.

It was a summery Saturday morning. Ally had thought we were getting engaged about five times already, thanks to Lance doing a great job of tricking her. So, today, Ally was convinced we were just getting brunch with our friends. Little did she know, the brunch plans were all a ploy. Ally’s Thoughts: “If it’s raining, we are Ubering.” “Is it weird to order pasta at 11:00AM?” “Should I wear this dress or that t-shirt?” “Why is he so sweaty?” Lance’s Thoughts: “Please don’t rain.” “Is the photographer going to be in the right spot?” “Ally looks so beautiful.” “I am playing this so cool, she has no idea.” “Today is the day I ask my best friend to marry me.” The rain held off and the stars were aligning. As Ally and Lance headed to “brunch”, they walked behind the Philadelphia Art Museum along the Schuylkill River trail. Hand in hand, Lance slows down, turns around, gets down on one knee, and asks Ally “will you marry me?”. Stunned, crying, and smiling, Ally responded with a resounding "Are we not getting brunch?" - JUST KIDDING! Of course, she responded with the happiest YES in the world. We are so looking forward to starting this new chapter together, and can’t wait to celebrate with all of our favorite people!
