Question

When should I RSVP?

Answer

Please let us know if you're able to attend by March 15, 2024

Question

EXTENDED TRIPS

Answer

A few guests are planning extended trips, mostly before the wedding. There is so much to do in Kenya, some ideas - safari (masaai mara, but also many others), other coastal towns (malindi, watamu), hiking (aberdares, mount kenya), lodges on lake naivasha/rift valley.

Question

PACKING ADVICE

Answer

- October is warm and can be rainy (although not rainy season). - Temps range from lows of 24 and highs of 32 celsius. - Beach kit is a must (swimmers, towels, kikois, sandals, hats, sunglasses) - Light, long clothes (e.g., linens) for evenings and mozzie-protection - Summer suits/beach formal for wedding (dress code details to come) - A light waterproof layer is recommended

Question

BUDGET & CASH

Answer

- $1USD = 158 KSH (The Kenyan shilling) - Main restaurants and shops take card but cash is needed for boats, tips, small shops, trinkets. a cash budget of ~5,000 ksh ($30) per person per day is handy. - Use the atm at the airport in Nairobi on Arrival. there are atms in Lamu Town too, a short trip from Shela Village on foot (30 mins) or via motorbike (5 mins)

Question

HEALTH

Answer

- Lamu is a low-risk malaria area, we don’t take malaria tablets and just use long-sleeves in the evenings and mosquito nets (in all houses). up to you if you want to look into it more and take anti-malarials as a precaution. - It's also worth checking if you need proof of yellow fever vaccination to re-enter your home country from kenya (not needed to enter kenya). - For anything else there is a clinic on the island and decent health/travel insurance is always a good shout.

Question

CHILDREN

Answer

Most guests with kids are planning a kid-free week. If you need to bring kids that is totally fine and we’ll help to arrange nannies on the island. For the reception, ceremony & Saturday dinner, please leave kids with a carer.
