The Dayton Art Institute
Elena and Andy visited the Dayton Art Institute on a date while visiting Dayton from West Virginia during grad school. This historic museum is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Elena y Andy visitaron juntos el Dayton Art Institute mientras aún estudiaban el máster en la Universidad de West Virginia. Este museo es un lugar estupendo para pasar la tarde.
National Museum of the US Air Force
This free museum is a great way to spend an afternoon, though be aware that it is massive so make sure you leave yourself at least 3 hours if you want to see it all. One of Elena and Andy's favorite memories at this museum was when Elena's parents visited the US for the first time. Along with Andy and his parents, all six of them spent the day touring the museum. Este museo es gratis y también es una opción estupenda para pasar el día. Ten en cuenta que es enorme así que, si lo quieres visitar, asegúrate de contar con al menos 3 horas para verlo entero. Uno de sus recuerdos favoritos aquí es de cuando los padres de Elena vinieron por primera vez a los Estados Unidos. Vinieron a pasar el día aquí con ellos y con los padres de Andy.
Carillon Historical Park
This was another fun memory shared with Elena and Andy's parents during a visit to Dayton. Leading up to Christmas, the bell tower is surrounded by Christmas lights which they went to visit after Thanksgiving dinner. The museum is a great way for history buffs to spend their afternoon. Aquí pasaron otro momento divertido con los padres de Elena y de Andy. Cuando llega la Navidad, la torre de esta campana se decora con luces todo alrededor, así que vinieron a visitarlo después de la cena de Acción de Gracias. Si encima te apasiona la historia, el museo te va a encantar.
The Oregon District
If you're looking for some places to eat or drink, check out the Oregon District in downtown Dayton. During the day, you can also browse local shops. Elena and Andy love to come to 5th street to grab dinner or drinks whenever they visit Dayton. Si lo que buscas son sitios para comer o beber, te recomendamos que te pases por el barrio de Oregon District, en el centro de Dayton. Durante el día también puedes echar un ojo a las tiendas locales. Cada vez que vienen a Dayton, a Elena y a Andy les encanta ir a la calle 5th para comer o tomar algo.
Thai 9
Thai 9 offers Thai and sushi options, great if you love Asian cuisine. The crab Rangoon is a crowd favorite. Thai 9 es un restaurante tailandés y de sushi, estupendo si te gusta la cocina asiática. Elena y Andy te recomiendan que pruebes los rangoons de cangrejo ("crab rangoons"), que son una masa frita rellena de queso crema y carne de cangrejo desmenuzada.
Jimmie's Ladder 11
Formerly a fire station, Jimmie's Ladder 11 offers a cool atmosphere and is a great place to grab brunch, lunch, dinner, or just a drink. Their burgers are great and the couple loves the Paisano chips to share. Este bar y restaurante era antiguamente una estación de bomberos. Si te apetece, puedes venir a Jim's Ladder 11 a disfrutar de su buen ambiente, a hacer un brunch, a comer, a cenar o a tomar algo. Tienen unas hamburguesas muy buenas y a los novios les encanta compartir los nachos Paisano (o "Paisano chips").
Grist
Elena and Andy have gone on a few dates here and they love to go back. The pasta is phenomenal and they love the bistro style atmosphere. Elena y Andy ya estuvieron varias veces aquí y les encanta volver siempre que pueden. La pasta está de vicio y adoran el ambiente estilo bistró.
Marion's Piazza
No trip to Dayton is complete without having a pizza from Marion's. With the paintings of Italy on the wall and the brick archways leading into the dining area, you won't feel like you're in Italy but, even better, you'll feel like you're in Dayton, OH. Andy's favorite pizza is the Super Cheese or you can try Elena's signature, "a pizza with a ton of olives." Ningún viaje a Dayton está completo si te vas sin probar la pizza de Marion's. Con las paredes repletas de cuadros sobre Italia y los arcos de ladrillo visto que te conducen hasta el comedor, no te sentirás como si estuvieras en Italia, no. Warped Wing Brewing Company
Named after the wing design of the Wright brother's original airplane, this brewery is a great place to get some local, original beers. Su nombre hace honor al diseño del ala que pusieron los hermanos Wright en su avión -¡el primer avión en volar del mundo!-. Esta cervecería es un lugar estupendo para probar cervezas artesanas "made in Dayton".
The Century Bar
This cool speak-easy inspired bar is a great place to grab a cocktail in downtown Dayton. Este bar está decorado como si fuera un bar clandestino durante la época de la Prohibición. Además de tener un ambiente muy chulo, está situado en el centro de Dayton y preparan unos cócteles riquísimos.
Canal Street Arcade and Deli
This arcade, bar, and deli offers a fun atmosphere to drink and enjoy some classic arcade games. En este salón recreativo, bar y bocatería, podrás disfrutar de un ambiente de lo más divertido mientras te tomas una copa y echas unas partidas en uno de los clásicos juegos de arcade que tienen.
