Nick and Brittni were both in the same Spanish classes in high school, but didn't really connect until after they had both graduated. Nick slid into Brittni's Twitter DM's near the end of the summer in 2013 where he shocked her with his quick witted-ness and sarcasm. Over the next couple of weeks, they saw each other almost daily before Brittni went off to college. On one weekend home, Nick told Brittni that he loved her (before asking if she wanted to be his girlfriend ;] ). The rest is history.
Nick and Brittni finally had a weekend free where they were able to go home from Omaha. The couple had planned to have a large family dinner with both families at Grace Meat + Three before heading off to a bowling fundraiser. It was a week before Valentine's Day, so Grace had decorated a small portion of their outside windows with cute Valentine's Day cards. As the group was waiting to go inside, Nick asked if he and Brittni could take a picture next to the decor. While the couple stood in front of the decor, Brittni was fixing her hair (typical) and not paying much attention to Nick. That's when he got down on his knee and asked to spend the rest of their lives together in front of their families and close friends! Fun fact: Brittni cut her right hand with a (very sharp) knife minutes before they were originally supposed to leave for St. Louis and had to go to the urgent care to get 5 stitches. After telling her parents what happened, her dad kept asking which hand she had cut. Confused, she told him it was her right hand. After the proposal, this question made a lot more sense!
On one of their first dates to Bailey's Range, Nick got stuck in the rain after moving the car and showed up at the restaurant soaking wet. He used his button up shirt he was wearing to try to keep himself dry as he ran to the restaurant, forgetting that his under shirt contained many cartoon cats. Brittni was laughing at him from the moment she saw him turn the corner on his way to the table (and she obviously took a good amount of photos - for anyone who may want to see). To this day, it is one of Brittni's favorite pictures.
