With his Greencard in hand, albeit with only a short window of opportunity to use it or loose it, Jason stared blankly at the booking screen teetering with the 'confirm' button, whilst stories of a worldwide viral outbreak were being posted to news bulletins around the globe. At the time, the only thing on his mind was whether he would get to see his two daughters, Madeleine and Isabelle, again, or whether the previous two years jumping through copious amounts of hoops to get a Greencard would be all in vain; the last thing Jason envisioned was landing in New York and meeting 'the one' during the midst of a global pandemic. As Jason boarded the last flight out of Australia bound for the US (within a matter of hours before Australia's borders were locked down for over 2 years), with the intention of settling down, establishing new roots and rekindling with his two daughters, Jackie was about ready to give up on love and leave New York, the place she had called home for over fourteen years, in search of new adventures of her own. With New York City, once coined with the famous phrase, 'the City that never sleeps', essentially idle and locked down, little did both Jackie and Jason know that they soon would be matched through an online dating site back when faces were required to be masked, and nobody was allowed within 6 feet of one another. As far as clichés go, it was literally love at first site on a date that is now etched in this happy couples' memories forever and ever; July 19, 2020. Now, almost 2 years on to the day, after fate brought these two lovebirds together, Jackie and Jason are super excited to have you all come, from both far and wide, to the special place where they first fell in love, Deer Mountain Inn, and where they both really realized they were meant to be together, forever.; as one another's best friend, person and soul mate! Jackie and Jason are excited to welcome you all to celebrate our union and commitment to one another.
On the 12 month anniversary of the day in which Jackie and Jason had first met, Jason decided to plan a fun, surprise, event filled day featuring; commencing the day with a mani and pedi (to make certain Jackie's hands were looking on point for the placement of the engagement ring) and to be greeted by flowers upon conclusion; then some warm up cocktails in the stunning gardens of the Highline Hotel; enjoying some shucked oysters aboard the Grand Banks, nestled on the Hudson River overlooking exquisite views of downtown Manhattan; followed by dinner at the place where they first met on their first date 12 months ago, Gilligan's at Soho. Unbeknownst to Jason, when they first walked in, the place was literally packed to the rafters (a far cry from the COVID restricted seating capacity that Jason had naively presumed would remain 12 months on). However, this did not hinder his ultimate goal of asking Jackie to spend the rest of her life by his side, together, forever... So, after a few beverages to build up the courage and a nervous wee (though not nearly as nervous as it was finding the right time and place to request Dave's permission to take Jackie's hand in marriage), in front of a crowded restaurant, Jason dropped on one knee and popped the question to sounds of "... OMG he is proposing", and thunderous applause (thankfully, as the speech Jason had prepared became lost in translation). Oh, and yeah, Jackie said "yes"; soon after Jason then whisked his new fiancé away for one last surprise where the happy couple finished their amazing day together with Jackie's family and close friends to celebrate... and the rest, as they say, is history!
