When I was 21 years old, while on a night out, I met Ricardo. I noticed him because he had a long braid down his back and he was the most exotic man I had ever seen. At the time, he had a girlfriend, so being introduced to each other was a far as it went. After having spent 6 years in the UK for university, and having not seen him at all during that time, I moved back home. Once again, on a night out I saw him...only this time the braid was gone. Feeling brave, I approached him and asked him if he remembered me. I boldy told him that I remembered his braid. Of course he didn't remember me, but we did exchange numbers and quickly became close friends. Our friendship and common interests soon led to romance.
Ricardo and I have been together for almost 8 years, and now have a daughter together. The topic of marriage has been discussed on many occasions. So, it didn't come as any surprise to me when he suggested that we look around at ring designs that I liked. We both knew that it was important that he get something I loved, but I still wanted to be surprised by the proposal. We visited two jewelers in Bermuda, with one of them being a local designer boutique, DavidRose, that I especially love! I fell in love with a certain ring at the boutique, but as I assumed a proposal was in the distant future, I simple told him to pick "something similar". Anyone who knows anything about me, knows I LOVE everything Disney; my favourite place in the world is the Magic Kingdom, Disney World, Orlando. And a month after our visit to the jewelers we embarked on a family vacation to Orlando.
On Monday, 10th June 2019 we set out for the Magic Kingdom. We had decided to purchase the "Memory Maker" add-on to the Disney app, which would enable us to save all the photos taken on Disney properties. Knowing this, I told Ricardo we would be taking photos with any Disney photographer we saw. Walking down Main Street USA, we stopped to 3 Disney photographers on the way to Cinderella's castle. After the 3rd photographer had taken a few photos, Ricardo went over to her and started to give her his phone. I thought it strange, as he knew all the professional photos would automatically be uploaded to the Disney app. So why ask the professional to take photos with the phone? After a brief discussion with the photographer he then spoke to two girls standing in line for photos. At this point my attention was drawn to Malani, so I had no idea why he was talking to complete strangers. He finally returned to stand next to me to continue our photos. As I prepared to pose for the camera he began: Him: Baby do you love me? Me: Yes babe, of course. Him: Do you want to spend the rest of your life with me? (A question he often asks me by the way, so I'm still clueless at this point). Me: Yes baby, you know that. He dropped on one knee. My heart stopped. Him: Michelle, will you marry me? He pulled out a ring box and inside was the GORGEOUS DavidRose ring I had fallen in love with! I could not contain my excitement! I was ecstatic! Surprised! Elated! Dumbfounded! So much so, I almost took the ring out the box myself! He had to take it back...oops! Of COURSE I said yes! And the photographer captured the entire moment on camera, with the "stranger girls" filming the moment on his phone...and screaming in excitement in the background!
