I first met my Boo officially in our early 20’s at the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, otherwise known as Brentnell. When I saw Chandra at the church, I thought nothing of her being my wife. She seemed like a great person to be friends with. That was it, so I thought. But, let me first rewind to tell you how much our story was connected from the start. My mom and her have a birthday within a month apart. Her mom and I have a birthday within a month apart. Both of our moms had us when they were 17. She and I went to Eastmoor Middle School and we both enjoyed playing basketball growing up. We won't say who has the best jump shot…that’s not important 😉 as it turns out I would go over to her house to play ball when she lived on Margaret St. This is where I honed in on my dominating skills on the court. I didn’t even know this was her house until much later in our friendship. I asked LaChandra Nicole Scofield to be my girlfriend on October 30, 2020, her birthday. I asked LaChandra Nicole Scofield to be my wife August 14, 2021. We laugh now about how I was living my life and how she was living hers during our time as friends. You see, the Lord had already told her I was her husband. Nevertheless, I was ‘doin my thang’ partying and living my best life, so I thought. So, our running joke is while I was in the club getting loose ‘One hop this time’ she was on her knees praying save my wayward husband lolololol…Thanks Be To God for His patience with me to prepare me to be a man of God worthy of taking the hand of His daughter. The Lord revealed her to me in a dream she was my wife. As I prayed to the Lord, what do you have to say about this woman of God who is super consistent in her stance to you and an excellent friend. The dream told me everything I needed to know. So here we are Kings to Be 😉
I first knew Lamar as “Speedy”. That was the nickname given to him by our Eastmoor Middle School classmates. Although we went to the same school we didn’t really interact with one another. I didn’t even know why they called him Speedy to be honest LOL. All I knew was he was short and possibly fast lol. Fast forward about 6 or 7 years, Lamar and I were both attending Church of Christ aka Brentnell where we ran into each other again. I was home from Wright State University on summer break and was looking for a new home church. I recall walking out of the sanctuary at the end of service and someone calling my name. I turned around and it saw a much taller Speedy LOL. With a quizzical look on my face, I replied “Speedy?” I honestly don’t remember much after that, but I’m guessing we exchanged numbers because we have been friends ever since. Lamar and I developed a really good friendship from that initial interaction at the church. My favorite part of our friendship was our conversations about the Lord. Somewhere around that time God revealed that Lamar was my husband. I told God, “Naw. He cute and all, but we’re good as just friends” lol God always knows best. So, for about close to 10 years, maybe more, we remained friends while seeking other dating interests lol. After all those years I figured I must have heard God wrong. There was just no dating interests between us. I wish I could tell you how we got to where we are now, but I really don’t know how God took us from friends to dating. All I know is I'm falling more and more in love with this tall, dark, and handsome God-fearing man and I am so excited to see where God takes us from here! Kwa Imani Baby ❤
