Their story began in 2022 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church. Quynh’s aunt had asked if she could help accompany the choir on piano. At first, Quynh hesitated because the church was farther than the one she usually attended. But with a little encouragement from her mom, she decided to give it a try. Looking back, everyone is glad she did. That decision led her to the choir, where Lam was already a member. Among the group, they were two of the youngest. After Mass, they would exchange a few words here and there. Their conversations were brief, but each left with a good impression of the other. For the first month, Lam didn’t make a move. In his mind, he thought, “A pretty girl like Quynh must already be dating someone.” Meanwhile, Quynh sensed that Lam might be interested, so she decided to give him a little nudge. She asked if he could help her with a school project - just the excuse they needed to spend more time talking. About a month later, they met outside of church for the first time at Starbucks to work on that project. Over coffee, they discovered how much they had in common: a love for anime, comedy shows, a shared sense of humor, and an appreciation for nature. What started as a simple meet-up quickly turned into hours of easy conversation. Two weeks later, Lam planned a picnic date. Surrounded by nature, he finally asked Quynh if she would be his girlfriend. And that was the beginning of their journey together.
