In the midst of the pandemic in 2021, during a time of distance and uncertainty, something entirely unexpected began—Mary and David’s love story. Assigned to administer COVID-19 vaccines at one of the “Big Three” jet engine manufacturers, Mary and David were total strangers with strikingly different personalities: Mary, quiet, observant, and thoughtful; David, exuberant, outspoken, and equally sharp but with significantly more hair at the time. Once their vaccination station was set up, Mary asked, “Do you want to administer the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine?” David replied casually, “It doesn’t matter to me.” Mary, calm and decisive, said, “I’ll do Pfizer. You’ll do Moderna.” Never one to pass up a challenge, David grinned and said, “I bet you $50 I’ll give more vaccines than you.” Without missing a beat, Mary shot back, “You’re on.” At the end of the shift, Mary ended up winning the bet, beating David by only 12 vaccines! On April 4th, 2024 (one day before Mary's birthday), while strolling through the romantic streets of Kraków, Poland, David got down on one knee and asked Mary to marry him.
