How We Met As it turns out, Chris and I had actually crossed paths years before we officially met—but while he remembered me, I had no idea! Fast forward to Facebook Dating, where Chris caught my attention by complimenting the 9mm on my hip in one of my profile pictures. Not exactly the most traditional pickup line, but it worked. At the time, he was 22 and I was 31, and I’ll admit I was a little hesitant when I first saw his age. It didn’t take long for him to completely change my mind. We spent countless hours talking on the phone, getting to know each other, and before we had even gone on a real date, I knew there was something special about him. One day I finally told him, “I just need to see your face.” So he drove down the road to the Pecan Grove Community Center near my house. The moment I laid eyes on him, everything changed. He was handsome, confident, humble, hardworking, and completely himself. What started as curiosity quickly became something much more. A few days later, I invited him to meet me and my kids at the Magnolia Festival so we could walk around together “just as friends.” The next night he offered to cook me dinner, and to this day it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. We spent the evening riding the back roads, talking and laughing. The following night he took me to Texas Roadhouse, and by Sunday I was meeting his family. From that point on, we were inseparable. Chris is everything I prayed to God for and more. He is hardworking, humble, funny, dependable, and can fix or build just about anything. He loves hunting, fishing, family, and the people he cares about. Most importantly, he loves me and our children with his whole heart. What began with a Facebook message turned into the greatest love story of our lives. Today, he’s not only my fiancé—he’s my best friend, my greatest blessing, and my forever.
