Soul Nerds Unite!

Start of 2020, LA told John she was subletting an apartment in East Harlem, and he assumed she’d never move back to JC. Yet, it didn’t matter as 2020 quickly became the year of quarantine. They occasionally texted each other. LA was sad to hear of Ed’s passing. She did actually move back to Jersey City, but John had moved to Union City. They were both in relationships. Their communication dwindled to social media pokes and occasional nerd jokes.

LA has always considered herself blessed to be an educator, but particularly blessed to be an essential worker. She was relieved to be in phase 2B to get her vaccine. Spring of 2021, many of her friends were still waiting and social distance was still the norm. She remembered her fellow mad-scientist John was a explosives expert for the Army so she scheduled a hang for after her second dose. May 7th LA texted John: Hey! What are you doing tomorrow? John texted LA: Hanging with you!!! Just before the hangs, John thought maybe I should shave and shower. LA was late because right before leaving she was compelled to put on some makeup. They were just friends but their subconsciouses were done with friend zone. They greeted with a warm embrace that seemed to linger, and the friendly hangout became a reunion of soulmates!
