MOLLY: It was a Thursday night and a friend of mine asked me if I would tag along on a blind date that she had set up with a guy she met on Tinder. After some convincing, I drove downtown to meet her where she then disclosed that she was most excited about meeting this guy because he had stated, and I quote, that he had “1-million dollars”. In disbelief that any of that way true, I still stuck around to support my friend in meeting up with the “1-million dollar” tinder date. Once we arrived at the bar, where we were meeting them, I saw Nick and was immediately attracted to him. I remember like it was yesterday, he was wearing a hat, Nike sneakers, and light colored shorts. He shook my hand and said he had just moved to Vermont from Massachusetts, and I immediately asked why he didn’t have an accent, and for whatever reason, it was at that point that we stuck together for the remainder of the night. We bonded that night through our poorly developed commonalities which was composed of, red-bull vodkas, Fetty Wap, and cheese itz. From that night going forward, Nick and I spent an incredible amount of time together which involved pool hopping, endless continental breakfasts’, and the never mentioned “1-million dollars”-which was not ever stated by Nick, just to clarify. After just a few short months of knowing each other, Thiago and I moved into Nick’s Winooski apartment where we created a home among the three of us. From there, we expanded our family by adopting a puppy named Tucker, later on a kitten named Winston, and at one point a hamster named Sprinkles (RIP). Together we have accomplished milestones, as well as supported each other through the process of becoming who we are today, which can be credited to a Tinder account that neither of us ever had, “1-million dollars”, and four other people who we no longer talk to. NICK: We met at a bar.
Again, it was a Thursday night however; the circumstances were much different than the night that we met. I was taking a night class which meant that I wasn’t going to be home until around 8:00 PM. I was feeling exhausted and was so ready to be home and go to bed. When I got to the front door, I went to open it and the door was locked. Now keep in mind, when one of us is home the door is NEVER locked, which now meant that I had to reach my hand into my giant bag that is filled with irrelevant and useless items which only makes it that much more irritating because at this point I’ve now lowered my bag to the ground and am fully crouched down searching vigorously for my damn keys, while also banging on the door wondering why no one is answering. Finally, I find my keys and unlock the door. The first thing I notice is that all of the lights are off and there were candles lit on the island directly in front of me. As I walked closer I could see that in rose pedals it was written, “Will U Marry Me?” and then Nick appeared (out of nowhere) and got down on one knee with a little red box. Before I even looked down at the ring, I wrapped my arms around him and immediately said yes.
