How God Wrote Our Beginning

How We Met Nathan and I met in one of the most unexpected places—on a Christian dating app… while both living in North Dakota of all places! At the time, I was balancing life as a nursing student and college wrestler, while Nathan was serving in the military at Minot Air Force Base. Even though he was in Minot and I was in Dickinson—three and a half hours apart—God clearly had a plan already in motion. Our First Date I didn’t even have a car back then, but Nathan didn’t hesitate. For our very first date, he made the long drive to see me. Since I lived in a dorm, options were limited—but that didn’t stop him from planning something special. We grabbed a frozen pizza, some snacks, and settled in for a cozy movie night. Simple, sweet, and full of conversation—that night marked the beginning of something truly meaningful. Growing Closer From there, we kept learning each other’s hearts whenever we could between our busy schedules. In February 2025, before we were officially dating, Nathan asked me to be his Valentine—and from that moment on, we were inseparable. Our dates weren’t flashy, but they were full of joy: Poppi sodas and face masks, baking cookies, going to church together, making homemade dumplings, and drinking coffee every chance we got (which eventually turned Nathan into a coffee lover!). With not much to do in North Dakota, we made our own fun—and in the process, introduced each other to things we still love today. Choosing Each Other As time went on, our conversations deepened. We realized our values aligned in the most important ways—especially our belief that we weren’t dating just to date, but dating with marriage in mind. That’s when Nathan asked me to be his girlfriend. Soon after, we took a 20-hour road trip to Washington so I could visit my best friend. Watching him make that drive without hesitation showed me just how special he was… and that’s when I truly knew—he was a keeper. Trusting God Through Distance In May, during summer break, the Lord placed it on my heart to move to Oklahoma City. Nathan and I prayed for guidance, trusting God every step of the way. And then—without missing a beat—Nathan drove from North Dakota to OKC in June. Though we were stepping into a season of long distance, it felt like no time had passed at all. It really is true: distance makes the heart grow fonder. He came to visit several more times, each reunion sweeter than the last. The Proposal In October, after months of loving each other across miles and trusting God’s timing, Nathan asked the biggest question of all. Of course… I said yes. 🤍 Now we’re preparing to become husband and wife, overflowing with gratitude for the way the Lord has guided our story from the very beginning. What’s Next Our love story is entering its most beautiful chapter yet—marriage. Mark your calendars for June 1st, 2026—we cannot wait to celebrate the beginning of forever with the people we love most.
