We grew up down the street from one another. I lived in the house at the corner and he lived in the cul-de-sac. We rode the bus together and everyday after school as we departed off the bus Chase would scream, "I LOVE YOU EMILY!" walking down his road. Who would've known he actually meant it. My friends told me for years that Chase liked me but as usual I was oblivious. haha. Until junior year I asked him to the Sadie Hawkins dance and the rest is history.
Chase left for a trip on his cutter from CA to MD that would take 43 days. At the time I had graduated college and moved to CA so we could drive from CA to VA together when the crew returned. On this trip, Chase had conveniently planned to go home for a few days when they landed in MD before he flew home to CA. Just enough time for him to buy a ring and ask for my dads permission. When Chase returned to CA, I suggested that we start to go on the lasts of our trips in Crescent City, CA. The lasts of our dates at local restaurants, good coffee shops (for Chase), ice cream, the river, beach trips, sunsets, and many more. I got off from work one night and wanted to go see the sunset and that's exactly what we did. Unfortunately that night it was extremely cloudy and you couldn't see anything. As the sun set, I got colder and was ready to leave. So I got up and just started walking to the truck. Chase called for my attention and when I turned around he was on one knee and I immediately burst into tears. OF COURSE I said YES!
