Cody and Olivia met after church when they were both invited to a young adults lunch following the service. After talking that afternoon (and a not-so-sly Instagram friend request on Olivia’s end) the two began building a friendship. The very next weekend, they were invited to lunch with Donny Lee and his wife, Gale. After the meal, Donny and Gale headed out, but Cody and Olivia stayed behind, talking in the parking lot for two more hours. It was there that Cody asked Olivia to be his date to a wedding later that year. She already had plans to attend one in Lubbock, Texas, but Cody wasn’t discouraged. He quickly pivoted, asking her to join him for another wedding. And more importantly, if she’d be open to going on a date with him regardless of the weddings. Their first date was dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse and a movie. Soon after, Cody sent Olivia flowers with a note that read, “I had a fantastic time Saturday! Worth leagues more than the sleep I missed. Can’t wait to see you again!” From there, their connection only deepened. Weeks filled with conversations, laughter, and time spent together made it clear this was more than just dating. With a gentle nudge from Donny asking if they were official, Cody asked Olivia to be his girlfriend. And that was the beginning of their forever.
