Their story began online, like many modern love stories do, on a dating app called HILY. What started as a simple conversation turned into a genuine friendship that grew over two years of talking, laughing, and getting to know each other from a distance. At the time, Lacy was in college at HCC, Ben was in College at K-State, and they spent those early years building a strong foundation as friends. Everything changed in April of 2021. After years of friendship, Lacy and Ben finally met face-to-face in Manhattan, Kansas, the place that would forever hold a special place in their hearts. Their first official date was April 15, 2021, and just two days later, on April 17, Ben asked Lacy to be his girlfriend. After that first date, Lacy and Ben found ways to see each other whenever they could. During the times Ben would pass through town to visit family, they made the most of every opportunity, even if it was only an hour together. Those brief moments became some of their most meaningful memories and reminded them that love doesn’t need a lot of time, just the right person. On November 15, 2024, in Manhattan, the town where their love truly began, Ben asked Lacy to marry him! From friends, to partners, to forever, their journey has been full of patience, growth, and so much love. They’re incredibly grateful for every step that led them here and can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with the people who mean the most to them.
