Wedding Party

Sybil White Taylor

Bridesmaid

Sybil and I met when I began teaching at Mansfield Elementary. She not only became a close colleague and mentor, but one of my best friends. She is my travel buddy and my jet ski driver. My claim to fame is that I introduced her to her husband, Mr. Darryl Taylor.

Shunguanette Banks

Bridesmaid

We met when I became Assistant Principal at Red River Elementary and instantly had a connection. She is all spice and everything nice. She is my friend and confidant; we talk about any and everything. She is my go to person. I trusted and loved her so much; she became my tax preparer.

K. Rochelle

Bridesmaid

I could write a book about this one here. She is more than a friend; she is my sister. I met her at our home church Greater Bethel A.M.E Church in Leesville, LA. She was my teenage role model. She was one of the first African-American dancers to represent on the Golden Cavalier Danceline. If you know me, you know I have always loved to dance. I watched her grow into a talented female despite all obstacles. Later in life when we both returned home, we were able to work together at Joan Kathy Dance Studio under the direction of Mrs. Joan Kathy herself. Together, we were a force to be reckoned with.

Tameka Podwoski

Bridesmaid

Tameka, this is my partner in crime. When you saw her, you saw me. We were two peas in a pod in Leesville. From Wal-Mart to Leesville Junior High, me and this one have some stories to tell. I could not even tell you how we met, but we have been friends for twenty plus years. This is the friend that gives me the unsolicited truth. She lays out the good and the bad, and does not hold back on either side. I love and respect her for that. When I need an opinion, she is the one that I call.

Charkeitha Frazier

Bridesmaid

Charkeitha was one of the first young ladies I met at Grambling State University. I was a scared freshman dancer entering the Orchesis Dance Company and this young lady inspired me. She was an EXPLOSIVE dancer; she could do it all. These long legs of mine had to get just as low as this 5'5 shorty. She is the best hype woman anyone could ever ask for. She is a genuine loving person and a natural motivator.

Lesley Magee

Bridesmaid

Lesley Magee, hailing from the big city of Vicksburg, MS. This friend is another true trooper, but she is going to rationalize the bad decision before we do it. This means we won't do. We met as new teachers serving in DeSoto Parish. From that moment, we became thick as thieves. She had the luxury of coaching the cheer team and I the danceline. We were a force to be reckoned with. We shared weekly Friday dates as single women. We went to TGI Fridays every Friday no matter what. Funny story. One night they did not have our staple side dish of white cheddar jalapeno mac-n-cheese, and we about lost our minds. We were truly devastated.

Shana Johnson

Maid of Honor

This is my New York Bully Bestie. We go back to the halls of Leesville High School. Notice the name Bully Bestie. We were not friends during our high school journey, but we did have one person in common. The late Ms. Phyllis Saroya Lapsley. Phyllis was both of our best friends and she wanted nothing more than for us to be friends. After plenty of unwanted hang outs, we became closer and closer. But it was the death of our bestie that sealed the deal. Ever since that day, this woman has been my sister. Her home is my home away from home.
