How We Met

Circa 2010

One casual May afternoon with our roommates (Clint's roommate was dating my roommate), we decided to meet up at the local college hangout, Pub n Sub in Reno, for some classic pizza and $1 pitchers of PBR. Having never met before, we struck up a conversation like we were old friends. It was easy, genuine, fun. Later that evening, our mutual friends had plans to meet up at Xtreme in the Grand Sierra Resort. I arrived a little later and was pleasantly surprised when Clint was excited to see me; he asked me to dance and honestly, we made history right there. As our friends have told it from the outside, “the sparks were flying that night”.

Just a few short weeks later . . .

taken from our one year anniversary memory: “On a weekend full of gorgeous sunshine, we spent our time with the truest of friends, good spirits, and a beautiful place, Pyramid Lake. Under a crystal blue sky and on the sandy beach of our campsite, you asked me to be your girlfriend, with all our friends onlooking.”

The Proposal

We have many special places together, but one of the top on the list is Lake Tahoe. It was where we went on one of our first dates. During our short stints to California to visit the Randall side of the family, we would always try and meet up with Dylan, Clint’s best friend from high school. This particular weekend he happened to be in South Lake Tahoe visiting his parents at their campsite. The weather had been interesting all day long; there was warm, summer rain, and the sun had poked through the clouds, and now the sky was just radiant with blues and pinks over the lake. When we met up with Dylan later in the day, we sat and chatted a bit with his parents before he had said we should catch the sunset if we wanted pictures. We walked across the street from the campsite, into a terraced park area that led right to the South Lake Tahoe beach. The water was high so there actually wasn’t any beach to walk on. There were a few kids playing the water, couples sitting watching the gorgeous sunset. It was absolutely perfect. All of a sudden Clint said, “I forgot the camera at the car, do you have your phone?” Not to worry, I had my phone and we handed it to Dylan to take some pictures of us with the beautiful backdrop. We are picture people. I don’t know that Clint wants us to be, but we are. :) Our years of moving, travel, work, play, Kirby...all captured on camera. So this wasn’t unusual. Dylan snapped a couple photos and then Clint looked over to the lake and said, “Let’s take a photo from this direction.” I turned away from him and looked over where he had pointed, turning around to get into position for the next picture. When I turned around, Clint was getting down on one knee... We're so excited to be sharing this next chapter in our lives with you in one of our other most favorite places on Earth...see you in AZ!
