How We Met

July 11, 2014

They met at their college orientation night dinner. Lacie was jockying her mom on the way to their assigned table to sit between her and another parent when suddenly she found herself sitting next to Brandon. They talked over dinner and later crossed paths in the Sett. Brandon challenged Lacie to a game of pool, which Lacie won. Thus sparking a heated rivalry and the agreement for a rematch when they returned to campus. They were best friends for all four years of college, going separate ways upon graduating. Brandon to start his own tech company and Lacie to begin her career path in the workforce. Lacie's job would find them crossing paths about a year and a half after graduating. She invited Brandon's company to demo their new application at a work event, and when Brandon's coworker came in his place to give the demo, Lacie reached out to Brandon to meet for coffee. Coffee turned to getting lunch at Noodles & Company, taking a walk down State Street, and then getting ice cream at Chocolate Shoppe. They later met up with Lacie's cousin and her boyfriend (now husband) for drinks and to hangout. It was two weeks after this day that they went to see Frozen 2, neither of them sure if it was a date or not. Brandon held Lacie's hand when she started crying in the movie theatre and we began dating that very night.

The Proposal

October 16, 2021

They spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon going for lunch at Noodles & Company, going for a walk down State Street and around the Capitol, and then to Chocolate Shoppe for ice cream. The whole time Lacie was anxious because she thought Brandon was going to propose. Brandon stopped and bent down to re-tie his shoe four times as they found ourselves wandering downtown Madison. Every time Lacie's heart skipped and she thought it was happening. The last time was while they were walking down the Lakeshore path, a beautiful and scenic spot for a proposal, Lacie jokingly told Brandon he needed to stop doing that or she might think he was going to propose. They later met up with some friends in the UW Arboretum, a favorite spot for hiking and enjoying beautiful flowers. While taking turns taking photos as singles and then as couples, Brandon bent down to re-tie his shoe, again! Lacie turned to walk away from him while he was down on one knee... ... when he grabbed her hand and said "oh no you don't." To which she turned around and blurted out, "Oh, wait, is this for real?" And, with that Brandon asked Lacie to marry him. She said "YES!" and turned in shock to her best friend, Claire, taking photos, and her other best friend, Leah, and her husband, Stephen, sneaking out from behind a bush - also taking photos! They went to dinner at the Nitty Gritty with 14 of their friends to celebrate. It was a beautiful and perfect day.
