The closest airport is Portland International Airport (PDX). From there, it’s about a 1-hour drive east to Hood River via I-84. You’ll need to rent a car or take public transportation to get into town. We strongly recommend staying in Hood River for the weekend, as there’s only one main road in and out of Portland, and traffic delays can occur. There are currently no Ubers or Lyfts in Hood River.
Hood River is a charming (and walkable!) town with great places to stay. It is popular for summer weddings, and hotels book fast. We recommend booking your stay well in advance. While we weren’t able to reserve any room blocks, there are several options we recommend checking out. The bride and groom are staying at the Hood River Hotel, which has a central location and is steps from the after-party venue. If you’re traveling with a group or prefer a homey vibe, there are plenty of great vacation rentals on Vrbo, Airbnb, and Horsefeathers Hotel. Our bus transportation to the venue will only pick up from the Oregon (south) side of the Columbia River. Unless you plan to drive yourself to the wedding, be sure to book your lodging in Hood River proper, not in nearby towns like White Salmon.
Please join us in formal attire. We encourage floor-length gowns and suits with ties. Summer colors are warmly welcomed. The ceremony is on grass, so choose your shoes accordingly.
We’ve arranged buses to take you to and from the venue and the after party. There will be two buses picking up guests from two central locations in Hood River. Please plan to be at the bus stop closest to your lodging by 2:45 PM. There are no rideshare services in the area. For those wanting to drive, parking is available for guests at the venue. The venue is a 10-minute drive from downtown Hood River. No cars can be left overnight at the venue.
After the ceremony and dinner one bus will head back to Hood River for anyone who wants to turn in early. The rest of us will enjoy a live band at The Orchard until 9:45 PM. At 9:45, buses will take everyone to the after party in downtown Hood River.
You’re on your own for the ride home from the after party. Since Hood River is small and walkable, you can enjoy an early morning stroll home.
