Murdock and Lacey first met when they were around 10 years old! Rush Barnett, Tina Barnett, and Steve Snarr all went to college together and knew each other long before we knew Lacey and Murdock would ever exist. Fast forward to Deb and Steve having a family and the same for Rush and Tina. The Barnetts and Snarrs would gather for 4th of July camping trips at the Barnett River Home in Bridgewater, VA and they saw each other a few other times outside of that as well. Murdock and Lacey did not see each other for nearly 17 years after their last camping trip due to general life circumstances. Murdock's grandfather, Leo, passed away in 2018 which brought these two back together almost serendipitously at his funeral. Leo was a client of Lacey's which is why she attended the funeral along with her family, but it also allowed Lacey and Murdock to catch up for 10 minutes afterwards. A couple of months later, on July 4th, 2018, Lacey received a message from Murdock to hangout that weekend and she said yes! On July 7, 2021, Murdock proposed in the exact spot that Lacey and Murdock had their first date, kiss, and photo 3 years prior -- Meems Bottom Covered Bridge. (See the photos). Their story is a unique one and beyond special, but it sure is nice having 2 families come together that were already chosen friends many years before.
