The Proposal

March 23, 2018

We were in Los Angeles, California for a spring break trip with our close friends from college. We decided we would drive out to Malibu and have a nice dinner and take some photos on the beach at sunset. We all got dressed up and headed out the door to Malibu. While I was blissfully enjoying the golden hour that was descending upon the west coast, everyone in the car was stressing as we rushed through LA traffic down the Pacific Coast Highway. Just as the sun began to set we made it to Malibu. We all hopped out of the car and made our way down the hidden pathway to the beach. Now mind you, the day before it had rained, so as we were all trying to walk down the dirt path in our heels and nice clothes, I nearly slipped and fell into the mud. After complaining as I do about trekking down this winding pathway, the scenery gave way to the most picturesque California beach I could have imagined. The beach looked like the cliche typical Cali beach you only see in movies. We slowly made our way down the wooden steps at the base of the pathway to the beach and began discussing which couple should take photos first. Madison and Lane insisted Mitchell and I go first, so I took off my heels and we handed them my phone. Mitchell and I began to slowly walk hand-in-hand down the beach. After walking a bit of ways down the shoreline, I turned to head back so we could get some standing photos before switching places with our friends, but Mitchell pulled me into a hug instead. When I pulled away Mitchell began to tell me that he had brought me to the beach to tell me how much I meant to him and to show me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. And just like that, down on one knee! I was honestly completely in shock. In fact, I cried for the next two hours. After all that complaining and heartache I had given him about taking photos on the beach and worrying about my hair getting messed up, he surprised me with the most perfect proposal.
