Early in October a few clients from the vet clinic (including Daniel's grandma) kept telling me about this red headed boy I needed to meet. Eventually Tina (Daniel's mom) and Casey (my best friend/boss) got to talking and arranged a set up on November 3rd to have Daniel bring some show calves to the clinic to get health papers. Both of us were extremely nervous and didn't really say much to each other the whole time he was there. Later that afternoon Daniel FINALLY texted me and asked me on a date. We went to dinner the next evening and the rest is history!
The engagement couldn't have been more perfect! My parents were going to be in town for Casey's wedding so Daniel figured that was the perfect opportunity to pop the question. He met them on Friday October 5th, after their plane landed to ask both of them if he could marry their little girl. Thank goodness they said yes! Little to mine or their knowledge he had planned to fly Taylor up here to Iowa on Saturday so that she could be here for it as well. Apparently Taylor, Tina, and Daniel had been planning this whole thing since August. Sunday rolls around and we had already made plans to have a family lunch with his family and mine for mom's birthday. Little did I know that was just a cover so I wouldn't figure anything out. We get to Daniel's parent's house and he asked me if I wanted to go down to the show barn with him to feed the calves...like I would say no to that. We get down there and he goes to start scooping feed but stops and says, "darn it, dad forgot to turn the radio off again in the clipping room. Can you go do that?" I start walking over to open the door and hear the song playing "Diamonds or Twine by: Ryan Hurd" which happens to be our song. So I thought, "no way am I turning this off. I'm going to open the door and turn it up!" As soon as I open the door I see my parents, his parents, his grandma, and Taylor with the whole clipping room decorated. At first I was super confused because why was Taylor in Iowa? She was supposed to be in Texas. Then I turn around and there stands Daniel with a ring box in his hand. He sits me on a straw bale and asks me to marry him...of course I said YES (well more like squeaked out "YEAH"). I couldn't have imagined a more perfect proposal!
