Josh and Kayla’s story began when they were just 11 years old at Washington Middle School in Kenosha, Wisconsin. What started as a simple childhood friendship drifted apart as life moved on and high school began. But fate had other plans. The summer before senior year, after a few weeks of hesitation (and a lot of overthinking), Josh finally worked up the courage to send Kayla a Snapchat. That one small message changed everything. Soon, they were talking nonstop — morning, noon, and night — and before long, friendship blossomed into something much more. At first, they promised to keep things light, knowing they’d soon be heading to different colleges. But love had a way of rewriting their plans. They followed each other through college and beyond, weathering more than four years of long distance before finally settling down together in the Metro Detroit area, where they now share their home (and hearts) with their beloved cat, Gumbo. After nine and a half wonderful years together, Josh asked Kayla the easiest question she’s ever answered — and now, after over 11 years side by side, they can’t wait to finally say “I do.”
