This has been a hard secret to keep! We had both agreed that 2019 would be a good year to officially begin moving forward with the next chapters of our life together. Even before we got engaged, we both knew we wanted to be able to relax and enjoy our first moments together as husband and wife without being pulled aside for photos and cocktails or rushing through dinner to see everyone over the course of a loud, busy, 4 hour reception. Anthony proposed at a beautiful terrace overlooking the fountains at Longwood Gardens. We had booked a trip to Nassau earlier in the Spring, and we decided to take advantage of the Sandals "free wedding" option. We only told immediate family about our engagement, and planned to surprise everyone when we came back from the island as husband and wife. When we arrived in the Bahamas on Monday, we planned everything with the staff at Sandals for our Thursday wedding (you have to be "in residence" on the island for 72 hours before you get married). We chose music, vows, even taste-tested and picked a cake and a cocktail reception menu just for the two of us! We received a call on Tuesday that Anthony's daughter was in the hospital with a skull fracture, after a dresser fell on her. We spent the rest of the day rearranging flights and desperately trying to get information through text messages and choppy Facetime phone calls as we waited for the next available flight. Luckily, Anthony's daughter was able to go home on concussion protocol, and we returned Wednesday around the time she was released from the hospital. We spent the next few days trying to find a way to tie the knot while still on our vacation from work, and ended up at the beautiful Beach Plumb Farm in Cape May, where we were married in the presence of our mothers (much to their delight!). They left us to our private evening, where we were even lucky to get a walk-in table-for-two at a reservation-only Greek restaurant on the promenade.
