Like many modern love stories, ours began on Hinge. He liked my profile first, and I returned the favor by liking one of his photos back. What started as a simple match quickly turned into hours of conversation beginning on the 4th of July — a day that unexpectedly became meaningful to both of us in very different ways. Not long after, we had our first date at a karaoke bar. Since we met online, he brought his brother along as a built-in safety net (which still makes us laugh). Thankfully, the nerves disappeared almost instantly. Between the music, nonstop conversation, and our shared love for karaoke, the night felt easy, natural, and surprisingly familiar — like we had known each other far longer than just a few messages on an app. At some point during the night, we sang a duet together, and from there, the rest was history.
