Our schools attended Camp Cavell for the weekend when we were in eighth grade. We were both the class clowns of our class and connected instantly. We went on to attend the same high school together. In 2012 we started a long four years of a long-distance relationship while Shawn played junior and college hockey, and Kyra went to Western Michigan University. It's been quite the journey, but it brought us to this exciting celebration.

A pair of Eric Church tickets for Kyra's birthday brought us across the country to Seattle, Washington. Little did she know, this wasn't the only purpose of the trip. We decided to make a long weekend out of the trip and used our time to explore numerous sites and attractions. A secluded, crystal clear lake where Kyra had visited once before with family in 2016 was the ultimate destination. Like it was meant to be, there wasn't a soul in sight. The perfect setting on a dock, out in the lake surrounded by mountains, was where our lives changed forever.
