He Said It all started with an invitation to visit a church in Freeport, Long Island. I decided to attend a service, sat in the back and immediately took notice of a beautiful woman sitting a few rows from the pulpit. In my mind, I had to talk to her, but I could not approach her on my first visit to the church because the "church mothers" looked like an intense group . . . so I had to come back for at least three more visits before I made my move. Then one Saturday, my boy Ras (aka Rich Simmons), who had attended the church for a number of years, hit me up and asked if I was interested in meeting "Kyra". When he asked, I did not know her name, but for some reason I knew Ras was talking about Kyra. We then set up a "brunch date," and when I officially met her, we hit it off! Kyra blessed me with her number and the privilege of many more dates . . . and then she made me the happiest man alive and said yes! She Said One Saturday I got a call from Meika and Rich Simmons (friends/members of the bridal party) that Rich thought I should meet his friend Russell. After getting a little information about him I agreed to meet him at brunch after church the next day. I arrived to meet Russell along with his parents at the same time, for the first time. No Pressure haha. A candid picture was even taken at the brunch which is hilarious to look back on now. At the end of brunch we exchanged numbers and the rest is history :) They Say Russell says that their first date was a blind date for brunch set up by Meika and Rich/Ras Simmons. Kyra insists that the brunch was simply a meet-and-greet, and that their official first date was the following weekend when they went out for Spanish tapas. Whenever the first date occurred, it brought them to where they are now: Happily in love and excited to enter into this marriage!
