FAQs

The Wedding Website of Kyra Nygard and Brandon Sloniker
Question

Dress code

Answer

If you're confused about what's appropriate when it comes to formal wedding attire, you can never be too overdressed. When in doubt, a dark, well-tailored suit or a floor-length dress are safe choices. But if you're feeling adventurous, you can experiment with trendy jumpsuits, a suit with a colorful jacket or bold accessories. Please keep in mind shorter dresses and skirts are also welcome, it is summer after all!

Question

How our wedding is different

Answer

This will be a micro wedding (aka a small intimate wedding) with a guest list of 30. In addition to being much smaller than a traditional wedding, we opted for a private ceremony with a reception open to all guests. We will not be hosting a dance and we do not have a wedding party (no bridesmaids or groomsmen).

Question

The Bar

Answer

We will be hosting an open bar. Drinks on us! Alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available.

Question

About the Honeymoon

Answer

From the get-go, we decided to make our honeymoon a big adventure. It's hard to justify taking 2 weeks off from work, or spending the money on plane tickets overseas, so our honeymoon was the perfect opportunity to take this big vacation. We decided to spend a few days in Iceland traveling around via camper van and spend the rest of our time in Norway. While in Norway we plan to make the most of their world-famous railway lines to get to the Fjords. We will also spend a few days in the city of Oslo seeing all the city has to offer. If you plan to contribute to our registry you'll see all the items go directly to funding our trip!

Question

The registry

Answer

We've made the decision to allocate our registry entirely toward our dream honeymoon trip. If you'd be gracious enough to contribute to specific aspects of our journey, please feel free to explore the 'registry' tab, where you can select items you'd like to support. Your generosity will truly make our trip unforgettable. You have the option to contribute via Venmo (and kindly return to the registry to indicate your contribution) or indicate your intention to contribute and bring cash/check to our wedding celebration. Your support means the world to us, and we're deeply grateful for your kindness.

Question

About the Venue

Answer

The American Swedish Institute is a museum & culture center featuring Swedish history exhibits, a mansion & art classes. Lovingly dubbed the “Castle,” the Turnblad Mansion on the American Swedish Institute campus is stylistically unique and massive in scale. The towering turret and steep-pitched roof are reminiscent of French Renaissance architecture known as châteauesque. The hand-carved gargoyles, decorative lions and the Mansion’s storied façade are carved out of Indiana limestone embedded with million-year-old fossils, which was mined from the same quarry as stone used in the Empire State Building. The Mansion was built between 1904 and 1908 and is one of only eight remaining structures built during Park Avenue’s heyday from 1885 to 1921 during a time when the street was known as Minneapolis’ Golden Mile. The Mansion features 33 rooms; each room with a distinct style and décor—from Gustavian to Moorish. There are 11 tile stoves, or kakelugnar, imported from Sweden. The painted glass Visby Window oversees the Grand Hall. Information courtesy of the ASI website
