Roy proposed to Kyndal on October 2, 2021 in Moab, Utah. His mother was in town visiting and they wanted to take her to see the beauty of the desert. A few friends of theirs also joined in their camping trip. The crew headed to one of their favorite spots. A pristine slice of heaven that made its way from the top of the canyon down a winding dirt road. The perfect spot amongst the towering canyon walls. Waking to the sun rise above the canyon on Saturday morning, their friends had said they wanted to go back up to the ridge line to go get some photos for their Christmas cards. So, they all packed up in the car and went up to the top. Everyone gathered to start their little excursion. Roy came up behind the group and Kyndal noticed him walking funny and asked if he was okay. Little did she know he was trying to hide the ring box that was poking out of his pocket. Hiking the rugged and beautiful landscape, they found an amazing overlook atop the cliff walls to the river and valley below. Roy told Kyndal to stand in front of the canyon so he could get a solo picture of her looking out. As she was doing this, thinking Roy was taking a photo of her, she had asked if he was done. Roy told her to turn around where Kyndal was shocked to find he was on one knee with the most beautiful ring. Of course, she was stunned, happy and overjoyed. Kyndal was so flooded with emotion she couldn’t remember if she had said yes. Thank you video footage!

Roy and Kyndal met through their mutual friends Paige and Creighton. Creighton at the time was Roy’s roommate and Kyndal was best friends with Paige. She remembered going over to the guys’ house to hang out with Paige and seeing Roy there. He was very focused on that day as he was trying to get a job at Eagle River fire district. So, when she was first introduced to him he kind of had tunnel vision and briefly said hello and was out the door. Kyndal thought he was really intimidating and stiff, however was very intrigued by this mysterious silent man. After a couple of months, Paige was insisting that Kyndal go on a date with him. Not really thrilled with the idea, and exhausted with the whole dating thing, Kyndal only agreed to go if it was a double date. They went and had drinks out in Vail and afterward Roy really wanted to have dinner with just Kyndal. But, she was trying a new tactic and thought playing hard to get might actually work, so she said she was tired and was going home. It got to the point that Roy had asked Paige if Kyndal was even interested in him. They clicked after a few more dates in 2018 and that’s how their journey began.
