Ours is an Orthodox Christian wedding ceremony. It’s deeply symbolic, reverent, and a bit different from your average American wedding (for example, there are no vows!). The service follows ancient Christian traditions that have been passed down for over a thousand years. It lasts about 45–60 minutes and is open to all.
Yes! Please check the schedule page for more information.
Yes—since the ceremony is in a church, we ask that guests dress modestly and respectfully—think “Sunday best.” Semi-formal attire is perfect: dresses or skirts that go to the knee or below, tops with sleeves or modest necklines. For men, button-down shirts and slacks are totally appropriate—no need for a full suit, but if you enjoy dressing up, go for it! Please also note that the service is mostly standing for those who are able, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
The ceremony will be held inside the church and the reception will take place outdoors under a tent on church grounds. Rain or shine, we've got you covered--literally!
Please do! Children are an integral part of life in the Church and it will be a joy to have them at both the ceremony and reception. We will have space, supervision, and food for little ones as well as plenty of peers to play with. Please just indicate how many children you will be bringing on your RSVP.
Your presence is the greatest gift! If you'd like to contribute, we are registered through Zola, which you can find under the "Registry" tab. We kindly ask that any gifts be shipped directly to our home for easier logistics. Thank you for your thoughtfulness!
We’ll be serving buffet-style BBQ, homemade with love by our wonderful parishioners. Expect Southern-inspired favorites with plenty of sides—including options for vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free guests. Come hungry!
Early October in southeastern North Carolina can still feel like late summer—warm, humid, and occasionally rainy. Daytime highs are often in the 70s or 80s, and evenings can be cooler but still mild. We recommend dressing in layers and wearing comfortable shoes, especially since the reception will be outdoors under a tent.
We kindly ask that during the wedding ceremony all guests remain present and refrain from taking photographs. Feel free to snap away during the reception!
Our wedding ceremony begins at 3:00 pm. Please plan on arriving about 30 minutes before the ceremony to allow for time to park and make your way into the church.
The church parking lot is available to guests. Although we will have adequate parking available and an attendant, you may want to consider carpooling if possible.
Yes! The reception will feature live music from local bluegrass band Folkstone String Band, plus some house music at the end of the night.
Yes! Vegetarians, you won't have to eat lettuce sandwiches after picking the rest off of the items off the bread. We will be offering vegan-friendly BBQ, as well as gluten-free and dairy-free options. If you have a dietary restriction not listed here, please let us know ASAP.
